87-Year-Old Woman Fights Off Home Invader

“I woke up to see a male standing over me by my bed, telling me he was going to cut me,”

Perkins told local NBC-affiliate, News Center Maine.

Residing solo in Brunswick, Perkins promptly sprang into action.

Perkins stumbled upon the 17-year-old assailant upon waking at approximately 2 a.m. last Wednesday.

she told the Times Record, an independent paper covering the mid-coast region of Maine.

“I thought to myself, ‘If he’s going to cut, I’m going to kick.’ So I jumped into my shoes,”

Refusing to succumb, Perkins fought back.

As per the local accounts, the teenager engaged in physical confrontation, shoving Perkins against the wall and subsequently striking her.

Thankfully, she managed to seize a nearby chair for protection and wielded it against him, repeatedly striking him while calling for assistance.

“He kept punching me and pushing me,” Perkins told the newspaper, saying she suffered a bruise to her forehead from the hits.
